How Much Does a Custom Pool Cost in Colorado?

It is the first question almost every homeowner in Littleton, Highlands Ranch or Castle Pines asks us: what will a pool actually cost? Most of our complete custom pool projects start in the mid $100,000s, but there is no single number. The final price depends on a clear set of factors that decide where your project lands. Here is how pricing works in Colorado, in plain terms.

Shotcrete vs fiberglass: two different price paths

A custom shotcrete pool is built on site — steel rebar, sprayed concrete shell, then tile, coping and your choice of interior finish. Because the shell is formed to your design, price scales with size, depth and shape complexity. Fiberglass pools arrive as a factory-molded shell, so the shell cost is fixed and most of the variability comes from excavation, decking and equipment.

For most Front Range backyards, fiberglass is the faster, more predictable path, and shotcrete is the choice when you want a one-of-a-kind shape, an infinity edge, a raised spa or a vanishing-edge view of the foothills. Fiberglass is not always the cheaper option — a large fiberglass shell with extensive decking, a spa and premium equipment can land at or above a modest shotcrete build.

What actually drives your number

Two homes on the same street can get quotes thousands of dollars apart. These are the reasons why:

  • Site access — a narrow side yard or steep lot means smaller equipment and more labor hours.
  • Soil and grade — Colorado clay, bedrock and sloped foothill lots in Evergreen or Morrison add engineering and excavation cost.
  • Size and depth — every extra foot of shell adds concrete, water volume, plumbing and finish material.
  • Features — spas, tanning ledges, bar stools, deck jets, water features, automatic covers and infinity edges each add scope.
  • Finishes — plaster vs. quartz vs. pebble interiors, and the tile and coping you choose, move the total meaningfully.
  • Decking — a small concrete patio and a full travertine deck with a fire feature are very different budgets.
  • Utilities and heating — gas runs, electrical panel upgrades and heaters matter more in Colorado's short season.

What a complete project should include

When you compare bids, make sure every proposal covers the same scope. A quote that looks low is often missing something you will still have to pay for later.

  • Design and 3D concept
  • Engineering and all permitting — we handle permitting on every project
  • Excavation, haul-off and grading
  • Steel, plumbing, electrical and the pool shell
  • Tile, coping, interior finish and startup
  • Equipment: pump, filter, heater, sanitation and automation
  • Decking and final site cleanup

Colorado's season is short — build in the off-season

Front Range build calendars fill up fast in spring. Homeowners who sign in fall or winter get permits pulled and excavation scheduled early, which usually means swimming by early summer instead of late August. Off-season planning also gives you more time to refine the design rather than rushing decisions.

Financing your project

Most of our clients spread the cost with monthly payments rather than paying cash up front. You can review options and pre-qualify through our financing page without affecting your build timeline.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an inground pool cost in Colorado?
A custom inground pool in the Denver and Littleton area typically starts in the mid $100,000s and rises with size, features and decking. Fiberglass projects are generally the more predictable budget; custom shotcrete pools scale with design complexity. We provide a site-specific estimate after visiting your property.
Is a fiberglass pool cheaper than a shotcrete pool?
Not always. A comparable fiberglass pool is often faster to install and can be more predictable, but a large shell, attached spa, extensive travertine deck or premium equipment package can push the total to the same level — or higher — than a modest shotcrete build. Shotcrete becomes the better value when you want a custom shape, an infinity edge, an attached spa or a size no fiberglass mold offers.
Does a pool add value to a Colorado home?
In higher-end Front Range neighborhoods such as Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village and Castle Pines, a well-designed pool and outdoor living space is a strong differentiator at resale. The bigger return for most owners is years of daily use of the backyard.
